Typical use
The most common ULD in the lower deck of passenger aircraft and freighters. Ideal for loose palletizable cargo, boxes and consolidated perishables moving on commercial flights (belly cargo).
With Chilean perishables
In Chilean exports it is used for fruit and salmon boxes consolidated in the belly of passenger flights, especially outside peak season when no dedicated freighter is available.
Advantages
- The most widely available standard: fits almost any widebody
- Easy to consolidate and handle at the terminal
- Good equipment availability at SCL
Limitations
- Limited volume and height
- The contour cuts usable space at one corner
- Low weight capacity compared to a pallet
