ETD / ETA

Estimated time of departure (ETD) and estimated time of arrival (ETA).

Technical definition

Estimated Time of Departure / Estimated Time of Arrival, as opposed to actual times (ATD/ATA). On routings with connections, each leg has its own ETD/ETA and the sum defines total estimated transit.

In plain terms

ETD is the estimated time your cargo takes off; ETA is the estimated time it lands at destination. Both are estimates and can change.

How it works in Chile

On long routings out of Chile (to Asia or Europe with connections), following ETD/ETA leg by leg helps anticipate delays and protect the perishable's commercial window.

Common mistakes

  • Treating the ETA as a guaranteed time for cargo availability.
  • Ignoring deconsolidation and customs time at destination.
  • Overlooking delays on intermediate connections.

How it connects to Skymetrics

SkyTracking surfaces flight events and flags changes so you can react before a delay reaches the end customer.
